Five fire departments battled a fire overnight on Saturday that destroyed a house in Centreville.

The fire began at about 11:59 p.m. at 270 Phiffer Road. Golden Garden, Washington Park Midway, Alorton and Camp Jackson fire departments arrived to fight the flames.

At about 2:11 a.m., the fire was finally knocked out, Washington Park Fire Chief Sharon Davis said.
