House destroyed in Southern Illinois fire as crews battle flames overnight
Five fire departments battled a fire overnight on Saturday that destroyed a house in Centreville.
The fire began at about 11:59 p.m. at 270 Phiffer Road. Golden Garden, Washington Park Midway, Alorton and Camp Jackson fire departments arrived to fight the flames.
At about 2:11 a.m., the fire was finally knocked out, Washington Park Fire Chief Sharon Davis said.
Davis said they believe the house was vacant.
No one was injured during the fire.
