This Illinois restaurant worker refused to wash hands during health inspection
Health inspectors say an employee refused to wash their hands during a recent inspection at a Mexican restaurant in Carbondale.
An inspector reported seeing an employee use a phone and then put on gloves. The employee was told to wash their hands, because wearing gloves is not a substitute for washing hands, but the employee refused, according to a WSIL Television report.
It was one of several violations, many since fixed, against Moe’s Southwest Grill.
Improper or nonexistent hand washing is a critical violation.
The incident was a five-point violation. The restaurant’s overall score was 81 out of 100.
Other critical violations included a sink not being easily accessible and food not being stored at the correct temperatures.
