Five North St. Louis County residents have been charged in connection with the Sunday shooting death of Keron W. Hickman in Alton.

Markell Taylor, 18, and Jordan T. Jackson, 20, were charged with first-degree murder Thursday, the Alton Police Department said. Each man is accused of shooting Hickman in the leg and in the back.

Both men also face additional weapons charges.

Daelin Hampton, Bryanna L. Kingcade and Kiondo Jones also have been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. All three are 19.

Three of the suspects were in custody Thursday: Taylor, Kingcade and Jones. Police are still searching for Jackson and Hampton and encourage anyone with information to contact the Major Case Squad at 618-463-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 866-371-8477.

Taylor and Jackson are each being held on $1 million bail. Both face a life sentence.

Hampton’s bail is $103,000 while the bail amounts for Kingcade and Jones are each $53,000.

Alton police Chief Jason “Jake” Simmons praised the work of police and prosecutors at a press conference.
