A 34-year-old Marion man was charged with multiple drug felonies on Tuesday following a short foot chase with police, a Southern Illinoisan report said.

Police arrested Derek Woods on a Williamson County warrant for delivery of cocaine. According to the report, when police attempted to apprehend him, he fled. When they finally caught him and searched him, Woods was in possession of meth, cocaine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia and cash.

The report said Woods was charged with possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of cocaine, possession of cannabis, possession of a meth smoking pipe and resisting a peace officer. Other drug charges Woods had from 2016 were also added to the charging documents.
