The planned highway closures, leading up to the Poplar Street Bridge, on both sides of the Mississippi River planned for this weekend have been postponed.
Both the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Illinois Department of Transportation have opted not to go forward with their scheduled highway closures because of rain that is expected this weekend.
IDOT planned to close westbound Interstate 55/64 at the Interstate 55/70/64 interchange in East St. Louis, so demolition could take place of a structure that leads up to the Martin Luther King Bridge, which also is closed.
MoDOT planned to close eastbound I-64 between Jefferson Avenue in St. Louis and Illinois 3 so crews could replace an expansion joint that crosses all eastbound I-64 lanes.

The closures are expected to now take place later this month, according to reports.
However, a planned lane reduction on Westbound I-64 over the PSB is still planned to go into place by Monday. One additional lane will be closed westbound, bringing the total to two lanes closed on the PSB through September.
