Child sex predator gets 60-year prison sentence

Edward T. Williams, who was already a convicted sex offender when he was accused of molesting a pre-teen girl last year, received a 60 year prison sentence Monday.

Williams, 43, of Alorton, was accused of molesting a girl who was younger than 13 on Feb. 15, 2017.

An ambulance was called to the 3600 block of Falling Springs Road after they received a report of possible sexual abuse. Williams, a friend of the victim’s family, was listed on the Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry as a sexual predator.

Williams received 30 years on one charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and another 30 years on one charges of aggravated abuse. He must serve the sentences consecutively, but may get day-for-day credit.

Williams was convicted in 1996 of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and assault of a 12-year-old girl.

The case was prosecuted by St. Clair County Assistant State’s Attorney Bernadette Schrempp. Williams’ attorney Patrick Sullivan declined to comment. Circuit Judge Robert Haida imposed the sentence.
