Gander Mountain will celebrate its grand opening in O’Fallon on Thursday morning.

The outdoor equipment, sports and apparel store is opening its first metro-east locale at 1230 Central Park Drive in town. The first 1,000 customers between Thursday and Sunday will receive a free scratch-off card giving holders a chance to win gift cards valued up to $100 and coupons for up to 50 percent off shirts, hats and sunglasses.

The doors at the new 61,000-square-foot store will open Thursday at 10 a.m.

Maurices has opened a new store in Collinsville. The women’s clothing and apparel retailer opened for business Friday next to Kohl’s at 603 Beltline Road. The retailer also operates stores in Belleville, Fairview Heights, Edwardsville and Waterloo.

Abe’s Gourmet Popcorn has expanded its space next-door to the Lincoln Theatre at the corner of East Main and North High streets in downtown Belleville. The popcorn store has moved into the area vacated last October by Bracelets & More. The extra space has allowed the popcorn makers to add a larger kettle for popping and more space for more popcorn. A former restaurant at 341 Centreville Ave. in Belleville may soon be reoccupied by a new owner and establishment. The building’s new owner has requested a special use permit for a liquor license. Stay tuned.

A Fairview Heights beauty salon has moved. You can now find Salon O’Hair at 41 Long Acre Drive, where they specialize in hair, nails, skin and make up and provide massages. You can call them at 618-222-8998.

The Maryville-Troy-St. Jacob-Marine Chamber of Commerce has closed its office at 647 U.S. Highway 40 in Troy until further notice due to a sewer backup in the basement. Glik’s stores and other men’s and women’s clothing and apparel chain tentree have donated 28 trees to the Edwardsville Parks and Recreation District. Granite City-based Glik’s and tentree had also donated as many redbud trees to the Highland Park District for Highland`s Glik Park and other parks.

And finally, the third annual Brew & Cue will be held June 5 and 6 in Belleville. The event brings local barbecuers together to sell and compete amid a craft beer walk downtown as well as live entertainment along East Main Street from the intersection of Jackson Street to South Charles Street.
