After nearly 40 years in Belleville, this auto repair shop will close its doors soon
One of the oldest auto repair shops in the metro-east will close its doors at the end of the week.
After 38 years in business, Lou’s Auto Repair in Belleville plans to close Saturday, owner Kathy Holzbach confirmed Thursday.
Leading up to Saturday, the shop will sell its remaining equipment and tools. The shop will not repair cars during its last week of business.
“I’m just thankful for all of the customers who kept us in business all these years,” Holzbach said. “I really appreciate it. I’ll miss everyone.”
Holzbach’s late husband, Lou Holzbach, started the business. The shop moved twice before settling into its current location at 2500 South Belt West.
“It was a family business,” Holzbach said. “Lou and his son worked here for a time.”
Helping Hands Med Car Service in Belleville could possibly move into the building, after Holzbach moves out.
