The Madison Fire Department responded to a fire at Autorama-Big Jim’s dealership on Monday afternoon that required backup assistance from State Park and Fairmont City fire departments.

Crews were called to the scene at 2000 Edwardsville Road in Madison just before 4 p.m., Lt. Mark Martin with the Madison Fire Department said.

The blaze was contained to one building at the used car dealership, Madison firefighter Ryan Guffey said. Cars and auto parts inside the building were damaged by heavy smoke and fire.

Fire investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire Monday night, Guffey said. It took crews about 10 minutes to put the fire out.
