The Belleville Christkindlmarkt’s opening ceremony, tree lighting and free concert has been rescheduled due to weather and will now take place on Saturday evening.
The market and parade, however, are still slated for Friday.
The market is scheduled to close at 9 p.m. Friday, but Carole Piontkowsky, executive director of Belleville Christkindlmarkt, said people should check the website and Facebook for any schedule changes due to weather.
The National Weather Service forecast is calling for a high around 51 degrees Friday, however rain is expected to fall in the evening before midnight. A low of 43 degrees is projected.

On Saturday, the opening ceremonies will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a free concert at 6:30 p.m. by Dogs of Society Elton John Rock Tribute. Piontkowsky said Thursday that VIP tickets for the concert are still available.
Saturday’s forecast calls for a mostly sunny day with a high near 60 degrees and a low that night around 44 degrees.
“We want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy our opening night festivities, including the LIVE CONCERT, so rather have everyone standing in the rain, we have decided to move the events from Friday evening to Saturday evening @ 6:30 p.m., in hopes that everyone can experience the magic of our opening this year, in more favorable weather conditions…” Piontkowsky wrote in a news release.
