Man charged in Madison County shooting death
A 54-year-old man has been charged with murder after a shooting on Wednesday that left a woman dead, according to reports.
Ernie Sykes is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and armed habitual criminal, according to the Alton Telegraph.
According to KMOV, Angel Syddall, 31, and a 25-year-old man were found shot in a house about 4 a.m. Wednesday on the 2300 block of Edwards Street.
Sydall died of her injuries after being airlifted to a St. Louis hospital. The 25-year-old man, whose named was not released, was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, reports said.
Sykes is being held without bond in the Madison County Jail, according to reports.
