Man found shot dead in truck on side of Illinois 3 in Sauget

A Missouri man was found shot dead Friday morning in a white truck, which was well off the road on Illinois 3 north of South Eighth Street in Sauget.

The man was identified as Christopher Moses, 34, of Fenton, Missouri by Illinois State Police. He was found in a white Nissan Frontier, a four-door truck, that had gone off the road near the exit to interstates from an area with several nightclubs.

Master Sgt. Mike Lewis of the Illinois State Police said the man had been shot.

Troopers say they were called to the area by a motorist around 8:50 a.m. about a four-door truck that had apparently gone off the road. When troopers went to check on the occupants, they found the man dead. There were no other people in the vehicle.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene at about 9:55 a.m. and taken away by the coroner.
