The body of a 6-month-old baby was found in Greene County on Wednesday.

Police had been searching for the boy since Saturday, when he and his mother were reported missing, a news release from the Illinois State Police stated.

The 22-year-old mother was found alive Saturday after Alton police followed a tip to look in the 100 block of East Cemetery Road in Carrollton, the release stated.

On Wednesday, police continued their search for the boy in a wooded area nearby. There, they found his body and it was taken to the Greene County Coroner’s Office.

Two persons of interest in the investigation of the boy’s death are in police custody, the release stated. The investigation is being conducted by ISP and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

Anyone with information is asked to call ISP Sgt. Jamie Brunnworth at 618-484-7384.
