Woman swerves to miss coyote and drives into water, partially submerging her SUV

First responders assisted a Millstadt area woman was assisted from her vehicle after driving it into the water to avoid a coyote, the St. Clair Sheriff’s Department said.

Karent J. Seib, 54, called a towing company at about 2 a.m. Friday to ask for help getting her Ford Explorer out of a small body of water.

A Millstadt police officer found her, still in the vehicle, on Illinois 163 near Illinois 157.

Seib told the officer she ran off her driveway to avoid a coyote, and ran into the lake. The Explorer was in water up to the hood and was removed from the water. Seib was not injured, police say.
