Man dies from medical issue after crashing into other cars, Fairview Heights store

The driver who hit two other vehicles before hitting the Lencrafter’s building at 10900 Lincoln Trail in Fairview Heights was uninjured but died on Sunday night after being taken to the hospital.

Police say Jeffrey A. Scott, 65, of Fairview Heights, died of the medical emergency that caused the crash at about 9 p.m. Sunday.

Scott was driving westbound on Highway 50 and crossed into oncoming traffic at the intersection with Illinois 159, Fairview Heights police said. His vehicle struck another vehicle head-on and continued to strike another vehicle head on before hitting the Lenscrafter’s building.

No one else involved in the crash needed medical attention, police said.

Police said Scott was talking to officers and did not have any apparent injuries from the crash.
