Del Monte issues recall for nearly 65,000 cases of corn
Canned food giant Del Monte Foods has recalled nearly 65,000 cases of Fiesta Corn Seasoned with Red and Green Peppers, the company announced this week.
Del Monte said part of the commercial sterilization process was performed incorrectly and could result in spoiled food, which could lead to illness if consumed. No one has reported an illness from eating the canned corn yet
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has not issued the recall.
The company’s recalled food has the UPC number 24000 02770 on the label. The cans are 15.25 ounces and were shipped to Illinois and Missouri, among other states. The company did not say what retailers might have sold the corn.
