Changes along the Poplar Street Bridge in St. Louis are planned to be in place beginning on Thursday.
Beginning Thursday, the Missouri Department of Transportation plans to close the westbound ramp from the PSB to southbound I-55 and westbound I-44 for a month.
First, crews will close the ramp from eastbound I-44 to Walnut Street for a week, starting at 9 a.m. Thursday. While the ramp is closed, drivers will need to use the ramp from eastbound I-44 to Washington to get into downtown St. Louis.
At 8 p.m. Thursday, crews are scheduled to shift traffic to the recently resurfaced lanes on the bridge, by opening the two right lanes on the bridge and closing the two left lanes, MoDOT said.

In the section in Illinois where the westbound PSB is split, the southern section of the bridge is planned to be closed during the work. The exit from northbound Illinois Route 3 to the westbound PSB will remain closed, with drivers needing to make a U-turn at Barack Obama Avenue as the detour, MoDOT said.
When the lane shift is complete, MoDOT plans to open the new ramp from westbound Poplar Street Bridge traffic to eastbound I-44 downtown. The ramp serving westbound bridge traffic to southbound I-55/westbound I-44 is then set to close for a month to start reconstruction, MoDOT said.
Drivers who want to go south may take the new ramp, make a U-turn at Washington Avenue and head south on southbound I-55 when the new ramp is open.
Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, crews are scheduled to close all lanes and ramps on I-44 in both directions between the Tucker Boulevard ramp and the intersection of 7th Street and Park Avenue. Workers also plan to close all lanes and ramps on northbound I-55 from Gravois Avenue to the Poplar Street Bridge, MoDOT said.
According to MoDOT, several ramps from westbound I-64 into downtown are planned to be closed for much of the time during this work. The ramp from the Poplar Street Bridge to eastbound I-44 and the exit ramp from westbound I-64 to 9th Street are planned to be closed for most of the upcoming weekend, except for two hours before and a half hour after the start of Cardinal games.
All lanes and ramps, except for the ramp from eastbound I-44 to Walnut, will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, MoDOT said. The ramp to Walnut is scheduled to reopen by 9 a.m. Thursday, June 4.
