Suspicious fires destroy pair of homes two blocks apart

Authorities are investigating a pair of suspicious fires that happened early Tuesday just two blocks from each other.

One fire happened on Laguna Drive, which is in East St. Louis and runs parallel to St. Clair Avenue just east of Interstate 255. The other was on Delmar Drive which is two blocks to the north.

According to fire department reports, no one lived in either home at the time the fires started. No one was injured in the effort to fight the fires.

The exact time the fires ignited was not immediately available.
