The city-owned Martha Manning Warehouse and Main Square Apartments, 701-703 W. Main St, are being razed to make way for the planned uptown Garden District.

An aspect of the Garden District will require the historic Collins House to be moved about 200 feet toward the corner of Main Street and Combs Avenue. It will become Collins Park, a welcome center at the western entrance of the city.

The site left by the Collins House will become a community park, with some land being marketed to developers for potential residential or other development.

Demolition, which cost the city $167,825, began May 18.
