Business briefing: Citizens Utility Board warns consumers of rate increase

The Citizens Utility Board says Ameren supply customers in Southern Illinois saw their electricity rates increase by 30 percent this month. According to the consumer group, the hike is due to an increase in capacity costs.


The U.S. trade deficit fell by 19.2 percent to $40.9 billion in April after increasing to $50.6 billion in March, which had been the highest level in about seven years. Read more here.
