MoDOT planning closures on I-55, I-44 in downtown St. Louis
Drivers on downtown St. Louis interstates should expect overnight closures along I-55 and westbound I-44 during the next five days as crews place girders and set panels for a new ramp, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Crews plan to work on connecting the new ramp from the westbound Poplar Street Bridge to southbound I-55, MoDOT said.
MoDOT’s planned closures:
▪ Thursday: One left lane is set to be closed on northbound I-55. Overnight, northbound I-55/eastbound I-44 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. from 7th Street and Park Avenue to Washington Avenue. The ramp from eastbound I-44 is expected to remain closed until Thursday as well.
▪ Friday through Sunday: All westbound lanes and ramps of I-44 will be closed between Tucker Boulevard and 7th Street. All lanes and ramps are planned to re-open by 5 a.m. Monday. The express lanes also are scheduled to be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
▪ Monday through Tuesday: Southbound Memorial Drive between Walnut Street and Spruce Street and access to westbound I-44 will be closed until the evening rush hour. The exit from eastbound I-44 to Walnut Street will be closed after morning rush. One lane will be closed in each direction of I-44 at the Poplar Street Bridge between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly.
