Storms likely Friday; what’s the weekend outlook?

Scattered thunderstorms were moving through the metro-east early Friday, causing some problems during the morning rush hour.

Heavy rainfall was leaving standing water on roadways and limiting visibility. Meanwhile, winds were blowing at speeds in excess of 40 mph.

There is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the rest of the day when the high temperature will be 83, according to the National Weather Service.

The chance of storms will decrease slightly Friday night to 30 percent, when the low will drop to 64.

The weekend forecast calls for mostly sunny skies Saturday with a high of 83 and a low of 68.

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms, about 20 percent, Saturday night and into Sunday morning.

The temperature will shoot up Sunday to a high of 90 with gusty winds of up to 22 mph. Skies will become mostly cloudy, bringing in a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms in the evening. The low will be 71.
