Snake blamed for knocking out power to 2,500

A snake is blamed for a power outage that turned out the lights in Millstadt, Columbia and parts of Belleville late Sunday.

According to Ameren Illinois, about 2,500 customers were without power after the snake got into electrical equipment at about 10 p.m.

It took about three hours to fix the damage and get the electricity restored.
