Wood River man killed in motorcycle-truck crash in Highland

Police say the man who was killed Tuesday in a Highland motorcycle crash was Gaylon D. Parker, of Wood River.

Parker, 69, was pronounced dead at 3:22 p.m. at the scene of a collision between his 1982 Honda Goldwing Aspencade and a U.S. Postal Service truck at St. Rose and Iberg roads.

According to the Madison County Coroner’s Office, Parker died of head trauma.

A passenger on the motorcycle, Parker’s wife, Donna C. Parker, was injured in the crash and was transported first to a local hospital, later to one in St. Louis.

According to a statement from the Highland Police Department, police arrived shortly before 2:30 p.m. to find the man deceased at the scene.

Police didn’t say what direction the vehicles were traveling when they collided, or whether the driver of the postal truck was hurt.
