Chance for thunderstorms lingers through weekend

The threat of thunderstorms beginning Thursday night will linger past the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday’s low is expected to dip to 75 with a 20-percent chance of storms.

There’s about a 50-percent chance of storms during the daytime and evening hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Highs are expected to reach 91 on Friday, 87 on Saturday and 89 on Sunday. Lows will reach the low 70s.

The chance for rain increases to 70 percent on Monday, when the high temperature is expected to be 84. There is a 50-percent chance for storms Monday night and the low is expected to be 70.

High temperatures Wednesday and Thursday approached decades-old records.

It was 95 on Thursday, just short of the 98-degree record set on June 11, 1933. Wednesday’s high was identical at 95, shy of the 100-degree record set for June 10 in 1953.

Average high temperatures for mid-June reach the mid 80s.
