Business Briefing: Rocket Fizz to launch first metro-east store in Fairview Heights

A soda, candy and gag gift store is opening its first metro-east store in Fairview Heights.

Rusty and Shirley Jones expect to launch Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shop by next week at 5915 N. Illinois St. in Fairview Heights, located in the same plaza and next door to the St. Louis Bread Co.

Rocket Fizz has dozens of stores in 18 states, including one across the river in University City, and plans to open 25 more across the country.


The nation’s retail sales have jumped by a seasonally adjusted 1.2 percent in May, after only a 0.2 percent gain in April, while overall sales have risen by 2.7 percent over the past 12 months. Read more here.
