One civilian and a fire chief injured during a Cahokia house fire

Two people were injured, including a metro-east fire chief, during an early morning blaze in the 2300 block of Cynthia in Cahokia.

Multiple fire Departments responded to the call that came in to the Cahokia Fire Department between 7:30 and 8 a.m., Washington Park Fire Chief Sharon Davis said.

Davis confirmed the two injuries and said both victims were taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Chris Davis, chief of the Camp Jackson Fire Department in Cahokia, was one of them. The civilian was not identified.

A medical report on the victims was not immediately available. Among the responding fire departments was Camp Jackson, Cahokia, DuPont, Prairie Dupont, Midway and Church Road, Davis said.

Davis said it was a single family residence that caught on fire . First responders took about an hour to bring the fire under control, Davis said.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s office is doing an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and where it started, Davis said.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the house is owned by Brandon Clark, a competitive eater and Youtube star.
