Collinsville woman dies in Illinois 15 crash
Illinois State Police troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a 28-year-old Collinsville woman dead.
Tyra S. Boyd was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:23 a.m. Thursday, according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.
The collision happened on Illinois 15, just south of Pleasant Ridge Road in St. Clair County at 10:46 a.m. Thursday, Illinois State Police Trooper Joshua Korando said.
Korando, in a news release issued Friday morning, said preliminary reports indicate the crash on Illinois 15 involved a 2019 Nissan Sentra, which was driven by Boyd, and a 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer with an attached semi-trailer driven by 48-year-old Neal Pollard from Marion.
Boyd was going west on Illinois 15 and Pollard was traveling east on Illinois 15.
“The Nissan drifted into the oncoming lanes and struck the Kenworth head on,” Korando said in the news release.
Pollard was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries, Korando said.
Illinois State Police traffic crash unit officers were dispatched to the accident site to conduct an investigation.
“No further information will be disseminated at this time,” Korando said.
