Mother makes plea for information on the disappearance of Washington Park man
Police are looking for a Washington Park man family and friends say was last seen when they dropped him off at a MetroLink station.
Washington Park Police Chief Allen Bonds said Devin Simmons, 31, has been missing since at about 9 p.m. Nov. 30. He described Simmons as a black male with a light complexion. He is 5-feet, 11-inches tall, is thinly built with long dread locks typically covered with a do-rag. Simmons has a number 13 tattooed on his left arm, Bonds said.
Simmons’ mother, Gail Bailey, choked on her words as she made a public plea for information that might help police locate her son, who she last spoke to two days before his disappearance.
“The last time he spoke to friends, family members and his girlfriend was Nov. 30,” she said. “He’s never done nothing like this before. I am desperate and heartbroken. It’s so painful. Anyone who is a mother knows the pain I am talking about. He is my baby. It’s so hard to work. I can hardly concentrate.
“I need to know where he is. I am pleading with anyone who may know where my child is to call the Washington Park Police.”
Simmons was dropped off at the Washington Park MetroLink station by his half sister, who was supposed to return to pick him up at 6 a.m. the following day.
“That’s the last time anybody saw him,” Bonds said.
Bonds said anyone with information should call Washington Park police at 874-0115 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 1-866-371-Tips.
