State fire marshal investigates O’Fallon house fire

The State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate a fire that destroyed the interior of a home in O’Fallon early Friday.

No one was home at 1516 Royal Oak Court and no injuries were reported.

Shorty after midnight, fire crews were dispatched to the home.

O’Fallon Fire Chief Brad White said the “fire was through the roof from the back side of the house near a bedroom. It spread through the attic.”

“The interior of the house was completely destroyed,” White said.

“The occupants of the home were not home at the time,” White said.

White said the cause of the fire is undetermined. He said he has called the State Fire Marshal’s office and is waiting to hear from them.

The people who lived in the house were arrested two days prior to the fire, White said.

The fire call came into the station at 12:25 a.m. and it was under control by 1:10 a.m.

It was 17 degrees at the time of the fire but White said water was not an issue for firefighters.

The Troy and Lebanon Fire Departments both went out on the fire with O’Fallon, White said.
