Bethalto woman killed in car crash on Illinois 100 near Grafton

A 22-year-old Bethalto woman was killed and two men were seriously injured Wednesday night when a car hit a river bluff along Illinois 100 near Grafton and overturned several times, Illinois State Police said.

The victims were not identified pending notification of their families.

Trooper Joshua Korando of the state police stated in a release that the two men - a 20-year-old from Godfrey and an 18-year-old from Bethalto- suffered life-threatening injuries. They were airlifted to area hospitals.

The car was traveling west, about two miles east of Grafton, when it left the roadway and crashed. All three victims were ejected, Korando stated.

Illinois 100 - also known as The Great River Road - was temporarily closed into early Thursday morning and traffic rerouted after the crash, which happened around 11 p.m.
