Illinois State Police investigating death of a woman found in a creek in East St. Louis

The body of an unidentified woman was pulled from a creek in East St. Louis on Wednesday.

East St. Louis police received a call about 9:20 a.m. about a possible body floating in the creek at 79th Street and St. Clair Avenue. They called Illinois State Police for assistance, according to East St. Louis Patrol Sgt. Cantrell Patterson.

St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye said the woman’s identify is unknown. She was pronounced dead at 10:13 a.m.

Trooper Joshua Korando said Illinois State Police are investigating.

“No additional information is available at this time,” he said.
