Fire destroyed a vacant home Thursday night in the 500 block of 24th Street in East St. Louis.

No injuries were reported.

East St. Louis Fire Chief Jason Blackmon said the call came in at 11:20 p.m.

“When we arrived on scene, the house was fully involved. Flames were shooting through the roof,” the chief said.

Ten firefighters from three crews of the East St. Louis Fire Department extinguished the fire within two hours.

The fire was so intense it burned some siding on the house next door, the chief said.

Blackmon said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
