A note of thanks and more details about how you can support the BND’s coverage
I want to thank everyone for their feedback and words of encouragement after reading last week’s column about how people can help financially support the BND’s local journalism.
One reader asked for the specific website url that enables you to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Report for America program, a nonprofit national service organization that’s helping the BND expand its reporting staff.
Here’s a shortened url that you can type into your web browser’s address bar: https://bit.ly/BNDRFA It will explain how you can contribute.
RFA is partnering with the BND and dozens of other newsrooms across the country to help place early career journalists in local newsrooms and fill coverage gaps. You can learn more about Report for America at its website: reportforamerica.org.
Our partnership with RFA will enable the BND to expand local coverage by adding two reporters to our staff, starting this summer. Part of the funding for these positions comes from local contributors. That’s where we need your help.
Thank you for considering a contribution.
As always, we thank all of our subscribers, advertisers and RFA contributors who make local journalism possible. Thanks to you, the Belleville News-Democrat is able to continue serving our region with essential local journalism, as it has for more than 162 years.
If you have any questions or have trouble connecting with the RFA site, please contact me at jcouch@bnd.com.
