Police investigating crash that killed motorcyclist in Alton

A 22-year-old man is dead after he was ejected from his motorcycle in an accident in Alton on Tuesday.

Tyler D. Slack, of Alton, was killed when his Suzuki motorcycle collided with a Hyundai Tuscon SUV at the intersection of Homer Adams Parkway and Buckmaster Lane at 6:46 p.m., a news release from Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn stated.

According to the release, Slack was traveling eastbound on Homer Adams Parkway when the SUV turned south onto Buckmaster Lane from westbound Homer Adams Parkway. The driver of the SUV is a juvenile and therefore not being identified.

Slack was wearing a helmet during the collision, but was ejected from the motorcycle at the time of impact, the release stated. He was later pronounced dead in the emergency department of OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton at 7:34 p.m.

Alton police and the Metro East Crash Assistance Team continue to investigate the crash, the release stated.
