Fire breaks out at Washington Park auto salvage yard

A fire burned about 20 scrapped cars at U Pick A Part Auto Salvage yard in Washington Park Thursday morning.

It took firefighters from multiple agencies about 40 minutes to get the blaze under control, Washington Park Fire Chief Sharon Davis said.

Davis said the call came in at 8:39 a.m. Fire crews rushed to 6111 Bunkum Road where several cars were on fire, Davis said.

“We were able to contain it to 20 cars,” she said. “The cause if the fire is under investigation.”

There were no injuries, Davis said.
