O’Fallon man dies one month after car crash in St. Louis

An O’Fallon man has died about a month after being injured in a major car crash in St. Louis.

Anthony Drakes, 61, died Sunday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

According to the report, on April 12, Drakes was driving a 2003 Ford Windstar minivan in St. Louis around 1:30 a.m. when he ran north through a flashing red light at the intersection of South Grand Boulevard and Delor Street.

Drakes’ minivan struck a 2011 Ford Edge SUV, police told the newspaper. The SUV was pulling out from a curb.

KMOV 4 reported that the minivan caught fire during the accident.

The report stated that the driver and one passenger of the SUV were not injured, but a second passenger was taken to the hospital. Drakes was injured and his passenger, a woman, fled from the car on foot.
