Police found a 28-year old woman’s body inside of an apartment in the 1600 block of St. Louis Avenue in East St. Louis.

East St. Louis Police Sgt. Cantrell Patterson said police were called at 1:17 a.m. last Friday in reference to a woman who was unconscious and not breathing. St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye confirmed that Tierra Billops of East St. Louis was pronounced at 1:56 a.m.

A cause of death has not yet been determined. Dye’s office is awaiting toxicology reports, he said.

When officers arrived paramedics were already on scene, Patterson said.

According to Patterson, witnesses at the scene told officers the woman was involved in drug activity prior to being found unconscious.
