IDOT announces several metro-east lane and ramp closures for bridge repairs
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced multiple road work projects on Thursday that will affect drivers in Madison and St. Clair counties.
The first project is the closure of the westbound ramp lane of Illinois 13 in Belleville west of 74th Street.
The lane will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday while crews work to repair a damaged bridge beam, a news release from IDOT said. Drivers will be directed by detour signing to use 74th Street and Illinois 15 to bypass the closure.
IDOT also announced the closure of several lanes on Interstate 55/70 westbound over Illinois 111 in Madison County.
Beginning Thursday, the westbound left lane will remain closed until noon on June 3 and the westbound center lane will be closed daily, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each weekday, the release stated. There will be no center lane closures over the weekend and all lanes will be reopened to traffic at noon on June 3.
The lane closures are needed for bridge deck repairs, IDOT stated.
