Vehicle crashes into Papa John’s Pizza in west Belleville, causing serious damage

A vehicle crashed into the Papa John’s Pizza restaurant Wednesday afternoon on North Belt West in Belleville.

It appeared an initial collision on the road between at least two vehicles caused one of them to crash into the restaurant about 2:35 p.m., said Belleville Fire Chief Tom Pour.

There were no life-threatening injuries, but firefighters had to remove one person from the vehicle that was still on the street, Pour said.

The crash caused serious structural damage to the building.

Firefighters and police were still on scene at 3:30 p.m., with firefighters directing traffic along North Belt West and the intersection with North 37th Street and Royal Heights Road.
