Police investigating shooting death of an East St. Louis man
A 20-year-old man was found shot Friday in East St. Louis and died later at a hospital.
The victim was identified as Khalil Dennis of the 1400 block of Gross Avenue in East St. Louis, St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. said. Dennis was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m. at Touchette Regional Hospital.
East St. Louis police and Illinois State Police are investigating.
Illinois State Police Sgt. Jarran Riley said East St. Louis Police called State Police at 5:01 p.m Friday requesting their assistance in the investigation.
Riley said Dennis was shot at Lake Avenue and 14th Street.
There are no suspects in custody. Riley said police do not know a motive.
