Car chase begins in Dupo, ends with driver taken into custody in Union, Missouri
The driver of a car that led police on a high-speed chase for over an hour though the St. Louis region has been taken into custody.
The chase was captured on a livestream from FOX 2. According to the TV station, the chase began shortly after 3:30 p.m. in Dupo.
The car is an older model Cadillac, according to the report. The driver turned onto Interstate 70, driving westbound before getting on the 170 Inner Belt Expressway, where he then turned north and got back on southbound in the west St. Louis County area.
The driver headed west, past Eureka, Missouri, and into Union, Missouri at about 4:40 p.m. before the car’s engine overheated, the report stated.
The driver attempted to jump out of the car near the East Central College campus in Union, but was tackled by police officers. According to the report, a woman was in the car with the driver the entirety of the chase, which lasted for an hour and nine minutes.
It is unclear why the chase began. Dupo police, Union police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department could not be reached for comment Monday evening.
