Smithton police investigating after child is struck by car while riding bike
A Smithton child is in the hospital after being hit by a car while riding a bicycle on Wednesday.
About 1:30 p.m., Smithton police were called to Fieldview Drive in the Manors of Fieldstone area for a report of a hit-and-run accident involving an injured child, a news release from the department stated.
The juvenile was seriously injured and airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.
According to the release, police tracked down the vehicle and driver involved in the crash shortly after. The driver is cooperating with police and officers are not looking for any other suspects.
The case is still under investigation, the release stated, and further details will be released at a later time.
