Highland CUSD 5 reports positive COVID-19 test after first day of teacher institute

A program assistant at Highland CUSD 5 tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, the first day that staff members reported to work, the district said in a press release. Students were not in attendance.

The staff member was asymptomatic and had no evidence of illness, according to the release. Staff who may have been in close contact were notified, and the district is in communication with the Madison County Health Department.

The district is not changing its current return to school plan, which allows students the option of either fully in-person or fully remote learning.
