The highest earner in O’Fallon in 2019, the latest figures available, was City Administrator Walter Denton, who was paid $159,159, according to records provided to the BND from O’Fallon through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety Eric Van Hook was the second-highest earner employed by the city. He was paid $137,693, the records show.

The city’s director of community development, Ted Shekell, was third on the list with a salary of $128,174, and fourth was Parks and Recreation Director Mary Hutchison, who was paid $115,015.

O’Fallon Police Sgt. Eric Andrew was the city’s fifth-highest earner with a salary of $113,483.

The city’s ten highest earners in 2019 all made over $100,000, according to the salary data.

The BND’s Public Pay Database goes back to 2011 with information obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests. The salary information does not always include insurance or benefits. Some records include detailed information on overtime and other pay, while for some districts that information was not readily available.

The database includes worker compensation in most local governments, including cities, counties, townships, school districts and local colleges and universities. More pay records will be added as the BND receives salary data through open records requests.
