Human remains found in ditch near Trenton
The Illinois State Police is investigating the discovery of human female remains found in a ditch of the Illinois 160 on-ramp to westbound U.S. 50 near Trenton Friday.
The remains are “in an advanced state of decomposition,” according to a new release from the Illinois State Police.
An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
The Trenton Police Department on Friday asked the state agency to investigate the remains.
The Illinois State Police said no other information would be released as of Friday but the department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the body.
