Pedestrian seriously injured after crash near Collinsville in southwestern Illinois

A person was seriously injured Saturday morning when they were struck by a vehicle on southbound Interstate 55 near Collinsville.

The person was taken to a nearby hospital after they were struck at around 5 a.m., according to Illinois State Police Trooper Josh Korando.

State police continued to investigate the crash Saturday afternoon.
