A fire Monday night destroyed a building in the Pinckneyville town square.
According to fire department reports, the blaze destroyed a building on the southeast corner of the square, across East Water Street from the Perry County Courthouse and just west of the sheriff’s department and county jail.
The fire was reported at about 11 p.m. Monday in the building that housed the recently closed Courtside Grill.
The roof of the building collapsed early Tuesday and it is believed to be a total loss. No one was injured in the fire.

The buidling, in addition to the closed restaurant, housed apartments and offices.
Pinckneyville is about 50 miles southeast of Belleville on Illinois 13.
