Caseyville man charged with home invasion and unlawful restraint after ‘frantic’ call
A Caseyville man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a home and holding its occupants against their will on Friday, Caseyville Police Department announced in a Facebook post.
Nathan Loyet, 37, was charged Saturday with home invasion while discharging a firearm, a Class X felony that carries a possible sentence of six to 30 years in prison, plus an additional 20-year firearm enhancement; two counts of aggravated unlawful restraint, a Class 3 felony; and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a Class 4 felony.
“On (Friday) Caseyville Police Department received a call from a frantic female who stated her home had been broken into and multiple shots had been fired,” the post stated.
“Detectives responded to the location. It was learned that the suspect had held occupants of the residence against their will. A suspect was developed and officers responded to the residence in an attempt to make contact. The suspect was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit and struggle.”
Loyet’s bond was set at $100,000.
On Sunday, Caseyville detective Danny Allison referred to Loyet and people in the home as “acquaintances.”
“It was someone he knew,” Allison said.
