The highest earner in Cahokia in 2019, the latest figures available, was Police Chief David Landmann, who was paid $121,185, according to records provided to the BND from the village through a Freedom of Information Act request.
Cahokia’s top five earners were all members of the Cahokia Police Department.
Patrolman David Heine was the second-highest earner employed by the Village of Cahokia, bringing in $114,530, the records show.
Capt. Dennis Plew, a member of the village’s Criminal Investigations Division, was third on the list with a salary of $106,724.
Sgt. Gary Craig was the village’s fourth-highest earner, and Sgt. Chris McGinnis was the fifth-highest earner, earning $101,100 and $96,083, respectively.
The BND’s Public Pay Database goes back to 2011 with information obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests. The salary information does not always include insurance or benefits. Some records include detailed information on overtime and other pay, while for some districts that information was not readily available.
The database includes worker compensation in most local governments, including cities, counties, townships, school districts and local colleges and universities. More pay records will be added as the BND receives salary data through open records requests.
